Selling Your Artwork
Currently, ad listings are free for our members. Marking the FOR SALE button or clicking the Create / Edit / Post ad button on artwork in your My Portfolio will begin the process of adding your piece to the Members Currently Offering listings. A text box will expand on that screen that allows you to enter your ad that will entice other members to contact you about purchasing your piece.
You can click the Save Ad button as many times as you like until you have your ad just the way you want. Once it’s ready, click Post Ad and your artwork will be displayed for all to see on the Members Currently Offering page.
Your ad can be removed from the Member’s Currently Offering page at any time by changing its status in My Portfolio using the radio buttons available. Do not forget to hit the Save button every time you make a change to your portfolio!
Once your ad has been posted, the 30-day timer starts and cannot be reset, but do not worry! Your ad can always be reposted for an additional 30-day period as each runs out. You will always have access to edit or change your ad as you feel necessary. If you are in the middle of negotiations with a buyer please make them aware of any changes you might be making.
A few tips to remember when placing your ad:
You may want to prepare additional information and photos for your artwork that you can email to the prospective buyer when they contact you. Save all correspondence between buyer and seller as supporting evidence of a successful sale. We recommend using a reputable payment intermediary such as www.escrow.com or www.iescrow.com for your transaction. This will allow funds to be collected and then the item shipped with an approval period for the buyer. Please carefully consider the terms and fees of any company you may choose. Determine before closing the deal who will pay for the intermediary service, buyer, seller or split between both. Do not ship your item until you have confirmation that the payment has been made in full with good funds. If your artwork is currently framed we suggest always shipping with the glass removed. This minimizes possible damages due to the glass breaking and cutting or scratching your new piece of artwork. You should never use a money transfer service such as Western Union or MoneyGram International for transactions with someone you don’t know. Never give your credit card number, Social Security Number or other personally identifiable information to someone you don’t know. Buying and selling is done at your own risk. Communication between buyer and seller, as well as, following security guidelines, is essential to a satisfactory outcome for your transaction. Please see User’s Agreement. After the transaction is complete, log on to LEAPdirect.com and mark the item as SOLD in your portfolio. This will maintain your records for the art you have owned. It will also release the impression number of Limited Edition Art Prints for the new owner so they can register the piece in their LEAPdirect portfolio. Your My Portfolio page will show that you owned a particular impression number of a LEAP, but once marked as SOLD, the record becomes unalterable. Be sure you have all the detail documented for future reference. LEAPdirect.com is the best place to keep your records of your artwork.
